Daddy Craft Box: Entry 6

So many Chicky's have been asking me about the 'cake-in-a-jar'. So of course I just have to post the directions, and baking instructions. : )

What you'll need:
(3) glass jars, with lids (Michael's has them for $1.09 a piece)
Mixing Bowl
Spoon, wisk
Pot
Cake Mix
Measuring Cup
Assorted ribbon & Material

1. Preheat oven to 350
2. Make the cake like it says on the box, I used Pillsbury- Strawberry flavored cake mix, I thought it would taste extra yummy instead of a basic vanilla.
3. Make sure you wash the jar and lids.
4. Pour the batter into the jar with a measuring cup, but make sure you only fill it half way.
5. Put it into the oven with NO LIDS for 30-35 minutes.
6. While the cakes are in the oven, boil all lids.
7. As son as the timer goes off take out the cakes, and immediately put the tops on with a oven mitten.
8. In about 5 minutes you'll see that the top of the lid has sunken in, which means it is on correct, and it's sealed tight for freshness! Press on it just to make sure it does not move.
9. Let cool, then decorate!

I tried a day after I made it, and it tasted like I just baked it seconds ago.

{I just sent Jonathan's out in the mail, so hopefully he will let me know soon how it turned out}

Daddy Craft Box: Entry 5

Hi ya'll,

Today we will be making Alien Antennas. This has been Caleb's ultimate favorite so far. It was extremely easy for a 2 year old to put together. I had to help a little, but not too much. Basically all we did was cut colored construction paper, about 3 inches wide. Then took (2) pipe cleaners scotched taped them to the inner side of the paper, glued the paper to fit his head. (Try it on first, then mark it with a pencil). Last but not least, glue the (2) pom poms onto the pip cleaners. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes. The pom poms have a hard time staying glued to the pipe cleaners if it doesn't sit long enough.

What you'll need:
(1) piece of colored construction paper
(2) pipe cleaners
(2) pom poms
Tacky Glue
Scotch Tape

Daddy Craft Box: Entry 4

Ok Mommy's I haven't posted a Valentine's Craft yet, so I am really excited about this one. We actually made this a week ago, but I just haven't found the time to post.

It's a Valentine's Book Of Art for Daddy. What we did was made about (4) pages of different art, then made it a book. Pretty simple.

The first Page was the cover, and that's the ONLY thing I did. The second page was finger painting with paints, and glitter glue. The third was drawing with markers, then the forth was his hand print. He enjoyed that one LOTS.

What you'll need:
Assorted Construction Paper
Hole Puncher
Yarn
Finger Paint
Markers
Glitter Glue (Optional)

Daddy Craft Box: Entry 3

Today we probably did one of my favorites. We made a play frog out of pipe cleaners.
This project did take a little time, and a lot of mommy's help. But afterwords, Caleb had a ton of fun playing with the little frog, now I wish I would have made another little friend too.

What you'll need:
4 Green Pipe Cleaners
1 Red Pipe Cleaner
Scissors
Tacky Glue
Yarn
Craft eyes

Daddy Craft Box: Entry 2

Today was a rather simple but exciting craft. We made a musical shaker for Daddy's homecoming!

Caleb had a blast adding the noodles, that was his favorite part. The only thing I had to help with was the writing on the label, which we wrote "Welcome Home". And then gluing the label of course. After finishing the craft and letting the label dry for about five minutes or so, he had an awesome time trailing up and down the house shaken the shaker.

What you'll need:
Empty water bottle
Uncooked Noodles
Assorted color Pom Poms [I used Red, White & Blue]
Construction paper
Glue
Crayons

Daddy Craft Box: Entry 1

Like every other Mommy, I am getting restless between this cold weather, and my husband being away. Even more so, Caleb. It's just been way too cold, and wet for my little one to play outside. So he is becoming very frustrated with being cooped up with nothing but a T.V... and his toys.
A while back we created a "Daddy Craft Box". We took an old box from storage, and decorated it with stickers, sparkles, feathers, etc... After that, we went to the store and got rather cheap things to put inside. Micheal's is your best bet for the fun stuff, they have a dollar section filled with craft supplies [sometimes they even have 2 for 1].
Well today we pulled out the craft box. We usually just color daddy pictures, but he seems to be getting bored with it. So I decided to try something new!

What you'll need:
Cereal [preferably, Apple Jacks, Fruit Loops, or Cheerios]
Glitter Glue
Assorted Construction Paper

It seems rather bland. But it kept Caleb busy for about 2 hours. It's great cause kids can snack on the cereal while they craft for daddy!

Hope this helped.

Here's an example of a picture Caleb and I made together:
